Pet Diagnostics in Santa Rosa, CA
Your pet’s internal health can be much more complicated than you may realize. While a companion animal may appear to be perfectly healthy on the outside, he or she may be harboring a dangerous secret within. That’s why it’s so important that we take the appropriate measures to monitor and manage the ongoing health of our animal friends. The most effective way to do this is through veterinary diagnostics. These invaluable tools, such as blood testing, x-rays, ultrasound, and other modalities allow our experienced doctors to examine your pet from the inside, identifying, diagnosing and treating whatever may be ailing them quickly and effectively. Santa Rosa Veterinary Hospital offers a wide array of routine and advanced diagnostic services.
Radiology
Radiology, or x-ray technology, provides our experienced doctors with the ability to examine the inner workings of your pet’s body, particularly the bones and joints. X-rays can be particularly helpful in diagnosing orthopedic conditions, such as fractures, hip dysplasia, and arthritis. Radiology can also be used to view the heart, lungs, and abdomen, allowing for the diagnosis of heart disease, bladder stones, tumors and more. With x-rays, we can quickly and accurately diagnose health problems so we can work on getting your pet back to good health again as soon as possible.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is one of the most important noninvasive diagnostic tools available to veterinarians today. It provides our doctors with real-time, highly detailed images of your pet’s organs. This state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to examine the specific functions of internal organs, such as the lungs and the heart. Here at Santa Rosa Veterinary Hospital, we work hand in hand with ultrasound specialist Dr. Susan Caputo, who comes right to our clinic in order to prevent the added stress of travel for either you or your pet.
Laboratory
There are times when a physical exam is simply not enough to diagnose your pet’s health concerns. Our hospital is equipped with a growing number of state of the art, in-house laboratory tests, many of which provide results within minutes. Some of these include heartworm testing, blood chemistry analysis in mammals and avian species, urinalysis and fecal examinations, just to name a few. We also work closely with a myriad of different commercial and University laboratories all over the U.S. to meet the specific needs of your pet, ranging from simple blood screens to DNA testing, sexing and feather-picking panels.
