ASPCA Poison Control
This is an excellent online resource for any animal poison-related emergency, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The ASPCA’s Animal Poison Control Center provides a helpful quick reference list of common plants that are known to be poisonous to pets. It also provides further information regarding symptoms and the degree of toxicity.
American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP)
The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) aims to improve the health and welfare of cats by supporting high standards of practice, continuing education, and scientific investigation. The AAFP website features a variety of helpful resources, including a comprehensive list of cat health topics to assist pet owners.
American Heartworm Association
The mission of the American Heartworm Society (AHS) is to lead the veterinary profession and the public in the understanding of heartworm disease. Their objectives are to further scientific progress in the study of heartworm disease, inform the membership of new developments, and encourage and help promote effective procedures for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of heartworm disease. APHIS works in a variety of ways to protect and improve the health, quality, and marketability of our nation’s animals (including various wildlife), animal products, and veterinary biologics. This subject area describes many of the diseases facing animals today, as well the steps APHIS is taking to prevent, control, and eliminate those conditions. The association aims to promote and protect the health and welfare of animals, people, and the environment.
