Our Front Door

Our Front Door

Santa Rosa Veterinary Hospital has been providing exceptional small animal health care to the pets of Santa Rosa and surrounding communities for more than 85 years. Over the years, many things have changed but the one thing that has remained consistent through it all is the unwavering commitment of our caring staff. We are passionate about improving the lives of animals, and we feel honored to partner with you in supporting all of your pet’s healthcare needs.
We are a full-service veterinary practice offering all of the medical, diagnostic, surgical and dental care services necessary to keep your furry, feathered or scaly friend happy and healthy for as many years as possible. Whether it’s a simple check-up or life-saving critical care, we’re ready, willing and able to help. We have been AAHA certified since 2008, and have also been certified as Feline Friendly by the American Association of Feline Practitioners since 2013.
Our Staff Sets Us Apart
While our services may be comparable to other clinics in the area, our pet-side manner is second to none. Our staff is friendly and approachable, and we really know our stuff! We have special interests and education in pet dermatology and an expertise in handling the unique needs of geriatric patients. The animals we treat include all manner of household pets, from dogs and cats to birds and pocket pets to reptiles and other exotic creatures. Simply put, if they’re special to you, they’re special to us!
Another thing that sets us apart from other clinics in the Santa Rosa area is the atmosphere within our facility. We are a small, family-oriented practice where getting to know our clients and patients is important to us. We want to learn about who you are and understand the unique personality of your pet because we feel that this enables us to provide the best possible care and service to you both with each and every visit. When you come in with stories and your pet greets us happily – well, that’s what it’s all about for us!
Compassion is Everything
Our true compassion and care really shine when we get to interact with our patients, whom we treat like royalty. We work hard to keep the cats, dogs, and birds separated here at SRVH because we want to ease tension for your pet and make the entire experience as stress-free as possible. Your pet will love it when we get down on his or her level and meet them right where they are, making them feel more comfortable. Belly rubs, chin scratches and plenty of tasty treats are just par for the course when you’re visiting with us, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We know, more than anything else, that you want the very best for your loved one. We want to be there to provide all of the tools, education, services, and support you need to achieve that goal. As your pet’s guardian and advocate, you are the single most important person in their life. We’re prepared to do whatever it takes to deepen the bond you both share and provide you with all the information you need to make your companion’s life better.
We're Committed to You and Your Pet
At SRVH we treat every pet as though they were our very own, and we’d love the opportunity to extend that same gentle touch and compassionate care to your animal friend. We look forward to working alongside you to help keep your pet healthy and happy now and for many years to come.
Our Santa Rosa Animal Clinic
Our Veterinarians

Dr. Steven Krome
Owner, Veterinarian
Dr. Steven Krome was the kid who was always surrounded by animals; he would even go to the storm wash near his house to collect lizards, tortoises, salamanders, and horned toads!

Dr. Sandra Lester
Veterinarian
Dr. Sandra Lester always knew she was going to be an animal doctor and was fortunate to have grown up with a diverse population of pets from dogs and cats to hermit crabs, fish, and birds- most of which her parents knew about...

at Our Santa Rosa Animal Clinic

Megan Van Deren
Office Manager
Growing up as an only child, Megan’s constant companions were her family pets. She can’t imagine her life without animals! It only made sense for her to pursue a career in the veterinary field.

Jean Holland
Client Service Representative
Jean has been working with animals since the late 1970s when she started working with a program that sponsored dog training for the deaf. Ever since then, Jean knew that working in the veterinary field was her life’s calling. Now she gets to care for pets and their owners daily at Santa Rosa Veterinary Hospital!

Erica Marshall
Veterinary Technician
Erica grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, IL, and spent much of her childhood outside exploring. When she got a microscope for her birthday one year a whole new world opened up for her exploring the creatures living in pond water, or the cells in whatever vegetables her parents had in the refrigerator.

Amy Freeman
Veterinary Assistant
Being born in La, there was a drastic lack of nature access, so that’s why when my family moved to northern California, every chance I got was taken exploring the woods and coastline that Sonoma County had to offer. Though I’ve always had a passion for animals, it was really then when my love for wildlife bloomed.

Dean Holland
Veterinary Assistant
Ever since he can remember, Dean wanted to work in a field where he could help people or animals. In the veterinary profession, Dean gets to do both! He loves caring for people and their pets every day as a Veterinary Assistant.

Lauren Mackey
Veterinary Assistant
Lauren is currently working on her Zoology degree, so serving as a Veterinary Assistant here at the clinic is the perfect fit for her while she’s in school. Plus, she likes to joke that she’s always worked better with animals than with people!

Hannah Darrow
Practice Manager/Lead Veterinary Technician
I grew up with the Pacific ocean as my playground, spending most weekends and vacations exploring the Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California. My enthusiasm for veterinary medicine came from the amazing traveling island veterinarians I would meet along the way.
