This disease can be fatal!

Here's what to watch for:

  • A dry, hacking cough (similar to kennel cough)
  • Lack of appetite
  • Lethargy
  • Discharge from nose or eyes
  • Fever (normal is between 101 and 102)

If you notice these symptoms, PLEASE get your dog to your veterinarian, they can help! If left untreated the illness may progress to pneumonia or other more serious problems. As always prevention is the best course.

We can vaccinate to protect your dog from this malady. The vaccine takes 3 to 4 weeks (and there is a booster required after two weeks) to provide immunity so in the meantime, avoid dog parks, and any other dogs outside your household.

We found an excellent article on the American Kennel Club's Website.

We'd be happy to discuss this, or any questions you might have about your pet's health!
