Thanksgiving with JoJo’s Perch

**Hello there my furry, feathery, scaly friends! And happy holidays. It’s the start of the holiday season, so to be nice (and so that I don’t have to get her a present) I thought I’d let Kona the dog join me again on this month’s blog. She’s been begging to do another one pretty much nonstop since the last time I let her. I thought this would be a good time to let her join me again. So in the spirit of Thanksgiving, we’ll share some things that we are thankful for this past year. Let’s see if Kona is thankful for anything besides dog cookies.**

Oh! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for letting me join in again JoJo. I had so much fun last time.”

I know. You wouldn’t stop talking about it. I almost got ear plugs. Let’s get this over with. What are you thankful this holiday season?”

Well, JoJo. I’m thankful for being able to join you again on your very special blog. So exciting.”

Yes, you said that. What else?”

I don’t understand.”

Well, Thanksgiving is about family and being thankful for everything in our life.”

Cool! What kind of things?”

**Calming, deep breaths Jo. You know she’s flighty, just got to steer the conversation. Be firm but nice. And remember that the human promised you a stocking full of new toys.**

Everything. You can be thankful for things in your life or even people. Anything that makes your life better. So, for example, I’m thankful for the pomegranates our human just got for me. They were very tasty and I was able to break my previous record for distance throwing them.”

Oh, food is great! I love food. Can I be thankful for all food and not just pomegranates?”

You can be thankful for anything.”

Dog beds? The human just got me a new one for the living room. I love it! So fluffy!”

That counts. Just like the new heat plate she got for my cage. It keeps me cozy on cold mornings. I’m even thankful for you; you help pick up after my distance throwing contests.”

I do love your contests. Always so tasty! I guess I’m thankful for those too.”

And I’m sure the human is thankful for you picking up after me.”

I don’t know! There’s just so much. I can’t remember it all. I think I should start making a list. How often do humans do this thanksgiving thing? I’ll be better prepared next time.”

They do it once a year.”

A year?! My list will be huge by next year. Why do humans only do this once a year? I have so much I’m thankful for I could do it every couple of months.”

Of course you can. You’re a dog. The littlest things make you happy.”

Oh man, is that true!”

About me…

I’m a 24 year old Senegal parrot. As with any creature as small as I am, I have a big attitude and know how to get what I want. I share my home with my human servant Megan and her Australian Shepherd, Kona, whom I torment to my heart’s content. Coming from a rescue, my history is a little bit of a mystery. My early life has caused me to be a picker, but it doesn’t matter too much – I know I’m gorgeous!
